ZERO Waste to ZERO Expenditure

We know this might seem as a dream and unattainable, yet there is much waste that can be avoided and rather converted to other useful products. The International Day of Zero Waste is observed yearly on 30th March. This year’s theme is « towards zero waste in fashion and textile ».

Every year, human beings generate between 2.1 billion and 2.3 billion tonnes of municipal waste. If appropriate measures are not put in place, the annual waste generation might attain 3.8 billion tonnes by 2050.Realize that a lot of these, is dumped inappropriately.

The No Waste goal is to redesign our entire cycle of resource extraction, consumption and discard management so no resources are wasted at any point along the way.

As Medinnovint, we advocate for zero waste in every sector of life. This, in our opinion is a strategy to alleviate hunger, poverty and reduce pollution. This by itself would reduce the prevalence of a good number of diseases amongst vulnerable populations. Many of the things we dump in our resource-limited settings can be upcycled. A lot of the waste in our communities is hardly ever separated, and even when home separation is done, many companies in charge of waste disposal still end up mixing these up.

This day comes as a call to us all to carry out our civil responsibility and manage resources appropriately, recycle, upcycle, and dispose what is left properly. We applaud the healthcare professionals 👏🏾👏🏾 who already do a great job in working with limited resources and advocate for a greater consciousness in all individuals.

Together for zero waste, together for zero pollution, together for healthier communities. 🤝🤚
