The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded on 7th April 1948, as an agency of the United Nations Organization (U.N.O.). On this very date, it held the first World Health Assembly which thereafter was retained to celebrate World Health Day. WHO works in alignment with countries, institutions and all relevant stakeholders to promote health, safety and provisions for the vulnerable and all populations.
The World Health Day is celebrated yearly to empower individuals to cherish good health and practice good habits that are favorable for the body and health. This year’s theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful futures” highlights on maternal and newborn health. It urges governments and health bodies to invest in impactful initiatives aimed at reducing preventable deaths and improving the well-being of mothers and newborns. Thanks to advanced technologies, goverment policies as those of Universal Health Coverage, and devoted medical personnels, who aim at promoting safe pregnancies to deliveries for mothers and their babies worldwide, there is hope for a better future. 💜
This Day, we celebrate healthcare workers in our resource-limited setting, who relentlessly brave the odds to deliver quality healthcare at their very best, even when in deplorable working conditions.
